Botox

Yes, I know Botox has absolutely nothing to do with crocheting, but to me it has become a unexpected part of my life. I have struggled with ongoing chronic migraines almost my entire life. Only within the past 3 years have I found any treatment that even came close to relieving the pain. Well, after tons of pain meds, preventative meds, etc- my Neurologist suggested that I begin Botox injections to curb the pain- and possibly lessen (or prevent) future attacks. I began the injections about 6 months ago and this week I had my 3rd set. So far, not much to celebrate- but it usually takes several days to "kick" in. T he first set worked, 2nd set were pretty much useless, and these...who knows?
I have to admit I have felt pretty bad here lately. I try to use crocheting as "therapy" if you will, but somedays, even that is a struggle. I have made some progress on my Itsy Bitsy Spider Afghan, worked a bit on my bookmarks for the Crochetville Bookmark Swap, and added some new links to my blog. I have done a ton of surfing here lately and found some really neat patterns as I continue to reorginize up my stash :) Oh, in case anyone NEEDS any more patterns- let me Enable your PAS...
Annie's Attic is having a HUGE crochet clearance sale! Check it out!

More great blogs

Well, we just finished another CLCAT over on Crochet List and who knew...two fellow bloggers were there all along...be sure to check out these blogs (if you haven't already) they are Awesome!!! Cats In My Craft Basketand
Stashaholic
I have been working on another Itsy Bitsy Spider Afghan, this time in Caron Simply Soft-Desert Rose, for a friend of my husband who was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She also crochets, so I had a hard time trying to decide just what to make her. You just can't beat that Simply Soft though, it really is....SOFT lol! And, the Rose color is so cheerful to me :)

After all of my whining about the replacement baby afghan I've been working on, I am pleased to say that it is balled up in the corner of the room- "time out" if you will- and it will just have to stay there, until I feel better about it! So there! You stinky blanket! That'll show it!

Oh- I picked up yet another dishcloth book today at Michael's- this one is Contest Favorites from Crochet with Heart! I think I am addicted to dishcloths! And I have some pictures of all the goodies I picked up this week at the local Goodwill...but you will have to wait....I have to give you a reason to come back don't I? LOL!

Hmmm...what to do?

I'm so sad to say that I have unfortunately run out of the lovely yellow yarn that I was using to make the baby afghan...so I had to lay it aside until I can make it to Wal-mart tommorow! Oh well, the only thing I could do is start a new project!! Yippee!

So, I began working on an Exchange Square for the Big Square Exchange- I am using a med burgandy color (label was missing) and a new pattern- but shhhhh...I can't post it yet :) Also I have quite a bit of shopping luck lately! Today I picked up some Aunt Lydias thread in Forest Green $1.00, Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton- also Forest Green $2.00 and my absolute favorite acrylic- Sayelle- in pink- .69! Oh...on Wednesday, I picked up a whole bag of Lustersheen (about 6 rolls), knitting needles, and some mercerized cotton yarn (not thread) at a local thrift store for 1.99!!!! I was very excited, to say the least!

And finally- I have decided that I must have LA 99 Floral Motifs to Crochet! I keep seeing posts about it, but I haven't seen it up close. There weren't any listed on Ebay either. But, I will keep my eyes open!

Jonathon's Blankie

My latest project is rather boring. I am attempting to remake my cousin's ds (age 4) favorite blankie. It was made by his great-great Aunt, and he takes it with him everywhere! Needless to say, after 4 solid years of love...it is falling into pieces! My cousin sent me a tiny "scrap" (about 10 stitches long and not even 2 rows high) of it, and I attempted to recreate the pattern- although it was so worn and stretched, it was really difficult to make out the stitches! Are you getting a picture of the shape this thing was in? Let me say it again...I couldn't make out the stitches!!!!!LOL!
Well, I have decided on a (2dc, ch1, dc) pattern, and it is coming along fine. The biggest issue with it is that he wants to be able to "stick his fingers through the holes", it must be yellow, and soft...ha!ha! I think it will meet the criteria, but oh...how boringggggggggggggg! I just keep plugging away at it- dc;dc,ch1,dc;dc,dc,ch1, dc;dc,dc,ch1,dc;arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh! Hopefully I will finish it soon! I keep telling myself how happy this will make him, but man, it is boring!

Oh- the biggest news though, I've figured out how to fix the problem with viewing my entries on Firefox, hopefully everyone can read it a bit easier :)

Crayon Afghan Finished!

Yippee! My Crayon Afghan is finished (except for blocking which I will do tonight)!!! I am really pleased with the finished product!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I also made a thread bookmark to include along with my dishcloth for the CL swap...no pictures yet, it is still pinned to the blocking board!

Finally, I realize that there is some difficulty viewing my graphics using the Firefox Browser, hopefully a solution will present itself though! Any ideas???

SWAPS, swaps, swaps...

Well, I just recieved the ok to join the 12" Square Swap at CrochetList, so I have begun frantically searching the web for some patterns to get me started. I am always so hesitant about using a pattern that I just "find" rather than one that someone recommends. You never know what kind of errors and inaccuracies web posted patterns (and even some published patterns) have until you (or someone else) sits down and actually works with it. I admit that I seldom follow a pattern completely as written, especially since I like to "tweak"them to be a bit more "me", but I hate to get started on a really great pattern and suddenly find that it is just a mess.
Whew! With that off my chest, I have some wonderful news: I have a wonderful website that was recommended from some members of the CrochetList Swap (although I have no actual experience with these patterns, many of the Swap Members use them)...so here is a great link if you need "inspiration" for that upcoming Square Swap :)

But Wait! There's more!!! If you find yourself in the midst of a Dishcloth Dilemma...as luck would have it.....

The Crochet Dude is ready to provide an answer...if his new designs are anything like the ones from his blog, you will find these patterns to be fresh, easy to follow, and definately not your Gramma's Dishcloths!

    SUCCESS!!!

    Yes!
Thanks to Donna, I have the button for the Crochet Blogs Ring back in place! I also have added some subtitles to the sidebar or my blog, cleaned up some of the code, rearranged a bit...although I'm still not totally pleased with the layout.
BUT...I have been checking other blogs as well, hoping to get a few ideas....

As far as crocheting is concerned- I have finished 3 1/2 strips of the crayon afghan (I had a little set-back this weekend due to sick kiddies). I also decided to take a little break from it today and instead played around with a few dishcloth ideas, although I don't really have anything worth posting...YET!

I have been quite successful with my attempts to organize my files off the net, plus in the process, I have found a ton of new patterns to try!
